Let’s get cooking!

North Shore Root Crew took on an ambitious project in the Spring of 2021. They collected dozens of healthy recipes from chefs and family members and authored a new cookbook, which they called “Sprouting Chefs.” The process of creating the cookbook generated much conversation and new connections. Preparing and sharing cultural favorites, such as Jerk Shrimp and Tres Leches, and comfort food staples, including Mac-n-Cheese and a Classic Burger, over video chats with loved ones was one way in which our youth stayed nourished and connected. The book is written for chefs of all skill levels, offering a glossary of terms, pro tips, and techniques.
